Bluebells
G and I did the Bayfield Bird Walk today and were able to stop at Natural Surroundings for a drink for the first time this year, which was lovely. I bought some plants to pick up on the way home including marsh marigolds, bluebells and oxeye daisies. I did loads of gardening this afternoon, mostly starting to sort out tubs, but still lots to do. Shattered now!
Day 404 / Day 13 of Step 2 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only)
UK deaths up 32 to 127,417 (revised basis), with 2,061 new cases, 1,781 patients in hospital, 243 on ventilation and 132 new admissions. 33.5m have now received their first dose of the vaccine (half the population) and 12.1m have had their second dose. India has had over 1m new cases in the last 3 days alone. Horrific scenes of people in the car park outside a hospital in India, some unable to get oxygen, others with an oxygen cyclinder, and some dying before they could be admitted. A makeshift 'crematorium' has been set up by residents in New Delhi with dozens of funeral pyres (and this is in addition to official sites). The SKY News reporter for this terrible piece to camera in a full hazmat suit and mask said a lot of those cases would go unrecorded as Covid deaths and that the peak might not be until mid May - the video coverage will surely be one that gets remembered as one of the lowest and most shocking points in the pandemic, so difficult to watch. In a surreal contrast, thousands protested in London against coronavirus restrictions, defying social distancing and mask wearing - they should all be made to watch the SKY news reports from India and hang their heads in shame.
