Thou shalt have a scheme of work
Thou shalt have a lesson plan
Thou shalt engage thy learners

And sometimes the best learning takes place when it's unplanned, unscripted and both teacher and learners have the confidence to go with it.

"Can we have an easy chilling afternoon?" was the first question I was asked this afternoon.

So, after the learners had created posters to develop their knowledge of blood we played pictionary so they could test each other.

"Oh, and can we have music on?"
Leona Lewis "Bleeding" seemed the obvious choice!

After a lot of fun, laughter and very creative pictures the learners had got their "easy, chilling afternoon" and showed their knowlegde.

I was torn between the drawing of the cream scone (to demonstrate blood clotting) and this one............

Archeries Arteries carry blood away from the heart.

More interesting when I showed this to other people the young students got it straight away but none of the older staff did!
