Ancient woodland

The shady woodlands, where we walked today, were carpeted in these wood anemones. According to Wikipedia, they spread very slowly here in the British Isles, by as little as six feet per century, so it is often used as an indicator for ancient woodland. That means where we walked must be very ancient indeed!

The dogs had a lovely paddle in the stream and a Red Kite flew very close overhead as we reached the end of our walk.

Later on, we attended an outdoor dance fitness class in the evening sunshine.
