Call the Midwife ends on BBC1 this Sunday. If you're going to miss the hugely enjoyable tale of nurses and nuns in 1950s Poplar, how about Lilies? The story of the three Moss sisters, their brother and 'Dadda' in 1920s' Liverpool ran for just one series in 2007, and failed to find a big audience - rather than the no-brainer Sunday slot it ran on a Friday.
And it was a wonderful watch, but the BBC decided to dump it and put the money into Holby Blue ( and what a hit that was!). It was created and written by Call the Midwife creator Heidi Thomas and is one of the best dramas of the last decade.
I was so annoyed I had a rant in The Scotsman. It did no good, but a fella has to try!
Oh, and as the series starred three females, Happy International Women's Day.
