UFO

Sunday 25th April 2021

I had time this afternoon to tidy up and prepare a meal for my bubble friend - our St George's themed meal. So, before I started, I went in search of a macro blip in the garden. I had just taken some and turned to come indoors when I saw something falling in the sky.

My first thought was an unopened parachute, then I panicked as it would be too low to open.  I quickly took a photo with the lens I had on ie the 105mm macro (press photographer instinct from my Dad), that is the first photo top left. Then I dashed inside to change to the 600mm lens, rest of photos. Having zoomed in to establish that there wasn't a person on the other end I wondered what to do next. I sent the photos to the Police Facebook page, then realised it is not checked regularly. What was bothering me, apart from what was it, was where did it land? It could have been on a road and it was a substantial size. So, I reported it to the non-emergency Police and emailed them my photos. I also sent them to the local paper.

I was too intrigued to let it go. My Dad's instinct nudged me to go to see if I could find it. So, still with 600mm lens I set off and found it in a field very quickly. I couldn't take a wide angle shot to locate it so took the panoramic instead. I sent the stitched together photos to the Police as well so they knew where it was. My "I shouldn't trespass" instinct took over at that point and I didn't cross the field to find out exactly what it was.

So, now I've lost an hour an a half and will have to rush around getting things sorted. I'm afraid my macro photo for today, which I quite liked, has been relegated to the extras.
