Copper Beech

This lovely tree which was planted 200 years ago when Montpellier Gardens was created has sadly fallen prey to a serious fungal disease. In fact, a large limb fell in calm weather and without warning during the set-up of the 2012 literature festival! Conseuently, the Council has now put up a protective fence to discourage folk from going beneath the canopy and will be removing it altogether by 2016.
