The Princess and the Dog

Credit Where It’s Due

Dear O'H dear and Lovely Tea Jenny,

It’s been a sociable couple of days. I went for a walk with Mary Doll and Victor yesterday. It was the first time I’ve spent time with my mum and dad since Christmas Day and it was just lovely. Mary Doll only had one bonkers moment (when she was talking about The Mini Princesses)...

Mary Doll: You have two lovely girls. They really are a credit to you.

Me: It’s lovely of you to say, but they’re pretty much adults. They are a credit to themselves.

Mary Doll: I suppose they are...But your upbringing would DEFINITELY have helped too.

Me: OMG, are you seriously trying to take credit for the Mini Princesses being the Mini Princesses?

Mary Doll (looking very pleased with herself): Yes!

Surely that means I can blame any teenage moments on her?!

This afternoon, The Prince and I (along with Big C and Gladys) had been invited round for lunch and drinks at Jenk and Sooj’s. They have an amazing party garden - during lockdown, they built decking and an outside kitchen. It was just so nice to sit round a table with other people. Lunch obviously extended into the evening and we didn’t leave until 11 pm. Despite no one having done anything or been anywhere, there wasn’t a moment of silence. Some very old (and too rude for blip) stories were retold and my chuckle muscles ached from laughing by the end of the night. Months of absence definitely made for fond hearts.

“That was just what I needed,” said The Prince when we came home. And it was.
