I am sewing again

This is the cushion that I use for needles and have always used it. I assume it was my mother's, as I have had it for a long, long time. In fact I can't remember ever using anything else for needles. I have had several pincushions, usually made by me, but I have always kept needles separate in this. I suspect that it once had a lid on the bottom as there is a space under the cushion that I suppose could have been storage. I have no idea what the cushion is filled with, but it seems to do a good job of keeping needles sharp. It is a bit battered and dinted, but it still does the job and I hope it will continue for a while longer. 

Funny how one can use something for such a long time and never think where it came from or how one came to have it.
