Napier
We are having a few days in Napier. In 1931 Napier was destroyed by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake and remains New Zealand’s deadliest natural disaster with 258 deaths.
The city was rebuilt in the early 1930’s in the Art Deco style.
The fire station is now a restaurant and the plaques explain the building and rebuilding of the fire station.
