Tavistock Canal

I have been trying to make the most of the fine weather and as I had to go to Tavistock today, I decided to have a walk along the canal. The Tavistock canal is only 4.5 miles long and was built between 1803 -1817 to Link Tavistock and it's rich copper-mining areas with the tidal port of Morwellham on the River Tamar. Barges were towed along the canal by horses. The canal here passes under a viaduct which once carried the London and South western railway to Plymouth.
