Whilst in Devon..

Avebury

This will be the last time we have to go to Portsmouth. My mother-in-law died a couple of months ago and her house is in the process of being sold. I have to say that Portsmouth is not my favourite place. Part of the journey involves the motorway between Southampton and Portsmouth. 15 miles of it is being converted into a 'smart' motorway at a cost of about £250 million. If you do break down you have to get to an ERA (emergency refuge area) which are about 1.5 miles apart. Anyway they are proving not to be as safe as they were expecting them to be.
Anyway we stopped off for our sandwich in Avebury. "Avebury henge and stone circles are one of the greatest marvels of prehistoric Britain."
A fantastic place to visit. National Trust, so toilets were well kept and empty..
View from where we had our 20 minute lunch break.
