Whimbrel

This bird features in a song in The Thomas Crown Affair, 'Whimbrels of Your Mind'. That's a joke.
I was a little underdressed for a walk around Deerness today- could have done with a heavier jacket or another layer underneath, but I had been put off my guard by recent decent temperatures. I was looking for migrant birds and saw a sandwich tern, three whimbrel and four wheatear. I was going to check a small clump of willows but a hooded crow was on eggs so | didn't disturb her. The non-migrants included a nice male reed bunting (extra).
