Oxlip

I spotted this in the woods this morning and couldn’t work out what it was. I knew it was something to do with primroses or cowslips, so checked it out when we got home.

Yesterday, in Scotland, pubs were allowed to open their beer gardens and serve alcohol. So my friend, W, and I reserved a table at the wee village pub garden, and enjoyed a couple of hours in the cold, wind, and finally rain. There was good company, a few other locals had reserved tables so we chatted to them, then a group of 15 students from St Andrews Uni. arrived to swell the numbers. The garden was full and I was so glad to see it. The young couple who own the pub have found it really tough during the pandemic, so it was good to support them, and of course getting a pint of real, locally brewed ale was a great treat.
The students fussed over Geordie, bemoaning the fact that their dogs were all at home with their parents, and Geordie lapped it up, loving all the attention.
Today I’ve been immersed in baby talk and baby pictures. Don has sent photos and videos and we’ve FaceTimed and chatted on the phone. They are very happy parents. Don was particularly happy when he persuaded Kate to go for a sleep and she slept for three hours. Which meant that he had Bonnie to himself for that time. He was in his element.
