Dry, dry, dry

I've cropped this to remove some distraction in the foreground and create better balance, but I've not touched the colour at all. (Did take with a polarising filter though)

I stopped on my way home from Nelson to photograph a dead tree - one that I constantly promise myself I'll stop and capture. But the other side of the road, though not really more photogenic, offered a more dramatic image.

It's dry here. And no rain predicted for some time. This is taken at 3.30 in the afternoon, 29 deg C and it's meant to be autumn! The wee tint of green is usually a swampy area; the reeds still have a little colour even though there is no water. These hills are usually vibrant green - this is where the spring lambs are raised.
