White Water and Dirty Snow
We were considering where to walk today when Jan read on Facebook that the waterfall at Västanå was in spring flood so off we went to have a look.
Snow falling on the way there but sunshine once we arrived, real cold front, April weather.
As always in spring there is a lot of water in the falls, but there was a fair amount of snow around too.
The flying water and the way sunlight and shadow pick out certain places makes it a lovely place to photograph. It's almost a meditation to look over the angles, the nooks and crannies, to see where the water splashes and where the sun gleams. Sometimes the flying water just emphasises the stillness of other features, as in today's extra.
At the top of the falls is a single picnic table and a small fireplace. We started a very small fire and ate our sandwich and drank coffee, listening to the water. A little more snow fell on us, but mostly the sun shone.
What a lovely place and how lucky we feel to be able to enjoy it.
