Another Bad News Day

Due to a cancellation, the garage managed to strip down my clutch yesterday. Unfortunately the fly wheel did have some damage, they offered just doing nothing, using a refurbished one or using a genuine Nissan part. I went with a Nissan part, so the total cost will be an eye watering £2,087 incl VAT - ouch! I took it out on my lawn with a good raking (plus some re-seeding). I’ve added an extra of the blue tit nest as seen on my tv (hence the distortion), but hopefully you can see some eggs have been laid.

Day 408 /  Day 17 of Step 2 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only)
UK deaths up 29 to 127,480(revised basis), with 2,166 new cases, 1,634 patients in hospital, 227 on ventilation and 124 new admissions. 34m have now received their first dose of the vaccine and 13.6m have had their second dose. Deaths in India exceed 200,000, but it’s believed actual numbers are a lot higher. The UK is sending 3 container sized ‘oxygen factories’ to help and the DEC has launched an emergency appeal. The ONS are reporting that 68.3% of the adult population now have antibodies. A PHE study shows a single vaccine dose can cut transmission by up to half. JVT hopes a future 3rd wave will be more of an upsurge and less significant, and there will be a ‘degree of bumpiness’ later in the year. The UK has secured an additional 60m Pfizer doses to support the booster programme. A trial (run by Professor Snape!) is to be held looking at the best vaccine to give as the 3rd dose given what was given for the first 2 doses - it will examine a range of factors (duration of cover, protection against variants, effectiveness against transmission, protection against serious illness, age and so on). The NHS app is to be used as a travel certificate.
