Colinton Railway Tunnel

The Colinton Railway Tunnel mural has been created by a combination of professional artists and the local community including schools.  It's based on the poem "From a Railway Carriage" by Robert Louis Stevenson, who had familial connections with Colinton.   The Colinton Tunnel was part of the Balerno to Edinburgh line closed in1967.  The murals run the entire 140 metres of the tunnel with one side depicting the poem and linked by a rainbow across the roof to images reflecting the local heritage on the opposite wall.  It was completed last year
