Clay Craft.

At craft today, we made a clay dish.  It was a first, as we've never had a clay session before.

After rolling it into a ball, and giving her a few instructions, I let Mia get on with it.

Whilst she was pounding away at her ball of clay, I watched the lady opposite.

She was Japanese.  And whilst her little girl was playing with a tiny bit of clay, this lady proceeded to make the perfect dish.

She then made a tiny figurine to go inside with a leaf on it's head.  The little girl was rolling tiny pieces of clay.

Suddenly, she plonked one on the figurine's head and squashed it a bit.

The mother did a sharp intake of breath, but then decided to laugh.

Mia was happily putting water on her clay to cover up the cracks.  And then putting a pattern on it by poking holes in it.

By the end Mia was covered in clay, and so were my trousers (I kept wiping my hands on them!)

But she was happy with her dish, and couldn't wait to show Grandpa, and then Daddy.

Her dish may not be perfect but it was all her own work.
