Caley at Achaderry
The dogs in their own mind I'm sure are feeling a bit diddled; short changed if you like. Dictated by other Saturday chores they have so far only had a very short walk at Achaderry.
Presently Caley is sitting in the kitchen watching for any signs of movement which would give early warning of another walk. Sometimes the actions are obvious, picking up a jacket or boots; a lead of course is a no brainer. However there are clearly other much more subtle clues which are generated unwittingly by humans which are tell tales too. Precisely what they are we have yet to work out; perhaps one key word or a particular body action, what ever, they (because its Bruce too) are invariably correct with the clue interpretation and it initiates a real scurry of excitement.
Mean time here is a typically Caley pose on his short walk this morning. You will gather I try a lot to get images like this and I get plenty of chances but the failure rate is high because he runs so fast every where. He was racing through the woods towards me and I knew fine he was going to accelerate to clear this big ditch. Continuous autofocus is hopeless for this pace at close range. I fixed the focus on a twig at a guessed distance , recomposed, then pushed the button when he jumped through that envelope of focus. I usually fail miserably but I was happy with ears up in the air look he has presented here.
