A Happy Destination: The Shoe Aisle at TJ Maxx

It has been a very long time since I've done what I'd consider "recreational" shopping. That is to say: shopping for fun, without any specific purchase in mind. We were in town, and my husband dropped me off for a half-hour at one of my favorite retail therapy locations, T.J. Maxx.

This, my friends, is the shoe aisle at T.J. Maxx, and I have spent many a happy moment here. I've bought both practical and ridiculous shoes in this place, and many, many clothes, jewelry, make-up, collectibles, housewares, and containers.

I've shown you some of the shoes I've bought here: the shiny red ones that are actually way more comfortable than you'd ever guess, and those ridiculous, high-heeled purple ones with the side zippers that - nope - I've never worn, not yet!

I arrived half an hour after the store opened and it was practically deserted, which was cool. On this day, I actually walked out of T.J. Maxx without a single purchase. But for a half-hour, things felt sort of "normal" again in my world, and what is THAT worth?

My soundtrack song for shoe shopping is this delightful tune: Paul Simon with Ladysmith Black Mambazo, and Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes. Now turn it up and DANCE!!!
