In the distance

Is the Isle of Man.

Snapped on a brief wander around Brighouse Bay, just south of Kirkcudbright.

We’ve had a lovely day wandering down through the borders towards our destination hotel. This photograph captures one of the features of the day … more or less as soon as we left Edinburgh we encountered a range of sunshine and showers. And that’s kept on all day. We stopped in Moffat for a wander, found an open bookshop, went inside and the obvious happened, found a cafe and had a coffee and a bacon butty (oh how wonderful it is to have food provided for you!). Our next stop was Brighouse Bay where we wandered round the bay with *very high tide*, and got caught in a shower coming back. Thereafter we popped into Kirkcudbright where we were hoping to get afternoon tea, but couldn’t find anywhere suitable. Instead we moved on to the hotel, which did provide tea/coffee and cake, as well as a lovely room with a view of Balcary Bay. As we sat here (well, Mr A was having a nap, so he missed it), a rainbow appeared just across the bay (see extra). You could almost touch the pot of gold. Pre-dinner drinks were taken (mostly) looking out to sea in the garden, although we were chased into the conservatory by another shower.

We’re now stuffed after an excellent five course dinner.

Like I said. Today would be different, and it was. How lucky we are.
