Blind Date!

The Magic Cafe sums up what makes East Oxford a great place to live - friendly in an often cool city, just the right side of hip, serving delicious and inexpensive food - and just round the corner from our house: a great place to sit and read the Saturday Grauniad.

We now seem to know half the people there - partly due to Katja's midwifery links with the numerous miniature customers - but also as it where other idle weekenders like to hang out.

Today we bumped into the marvellous Manu (who kindly looks after our cat when we're away) and she introduced us to her Saturday ritual: reading aloud the Blind Date column. It usually ends in tears, but we live in hope...
