A Speckled Wood? No, if you look closely you will see that its actually a pair of Speckled Wood. I watched a prolonged courtship flight before they settled momentarily on the ground before flying off - still coupled - into denser vegetation. Unusually for butterflies the females in this species only mate once and then spend much of their time avoiding the attentions of the males by pretending to be dead.
