Clematis montana var. rubens 'Pink Perfection'
A bit of a quiet day as it has been chilly and showery. The Clematis that grows over our front porch has been in bud for weeks because of the cold weather but, at last, the flowers have opened. They are very scented as well as being pretty, and the plant is very tough, having survived being hard pruned, when we've needed to paint the woodwork it grows over. We have a couple of other Clematis plants which flower later. They grow well on our thin, chalk, soil, so we probably ought to invest in a few more.
Listened on Radio 4 Sounds to Alfie Moore's "It's a Fair Cop" (broadcast yesterday) which was the first programme in his new comic series about the funny/ sad/ bizarre dilemmas which face police officers in their daily work. He raises a lot of interesting questions about the law, and legal definitions, eg can you be accused of kidnapping a dog? can a retired police dog be used to apprehend a suspect?
I think he's brilliant.
