Make Every Day Memorable

By Jorgiesmum

Ding Dong!

Pete and Carolyn took us on a walk beside the picturesque River Dart today.
Sunny intervals but the rain clouds looked threatening by the time we got to the slip way for the Dittisham ferry (main). It's just a short ride across the creek to the small hamlet and the ferryman is alerted by ringing the bell.
We only stopped here for a coffee while waiting to board the larger passenger ferry down the river to Dartmouth.
Unfortunately, by the time we had travelled the 3 miles downstream, the rain had started and we had to shelter inside. Jorgie was quite pleased to leave the top deck. Her first time on the water and I don't think she enjoyed it much. (Not sure how she is going to cope in June when we go on the White-tailed eagle trip during our stay on Mull)
We elected not to go ashore and made the return journey passing impressive homes hiding in amongst the oak trees that line the steep sided banks. The world famous Agatha Christie lived here at Greenway.
On the opposite bank there is a smaller cottage where the Pilgrim Fathers stayed as their boats were prepared for their epic journey to the New World.
Back on dry land again and the sun came out.
We walked uphill (phew it was steep!) through the Greenway Estate to a picnic spot looking back down the river to Dartmouth (extra)
Continuing on for a few more miles back to the car, jackets, gloves and hats were speedily removed as the temperatures rapidly rose in the sunshine.
An excellent ramble. It's always so good to go somewhere new

Thanks for the appreciation for the silhouetted bullocks yesterday.
Jorgie and I make friends with all the animals we encounter on our walks. You may remember I blipped a sow a couple of weeks ago. One of Jorgie meeting them in extras. I noticed that they weren't in their field yesterday and today the farm is advertising rare breed pork for sale. Even though I'm not a veggie, I felt really upset. Stupid I know but they were such characters.
I could never be a farmer
