The Coots are Back!

We had a walk to Killingworth Lake this morning and were pleased to see that the coots are back. If you followed my blips last year at this time you'll know that we watched them for several weeks, raising their chicks - and this year they've built their nest in exactly the same place again. We assume that Mrs Coot was sitting on her eggs while Mr Coot was bringing extra material to extend the nest in time for the chicks to hatch.

We also saw a lazy terrapin resting on the bank of the larger lake so it's pictured in the extra.
