Another day goes by

Run, chip, catch and score

Today was rugby day again and it was starting early at Rodney Parade where the hosts Newport were taking on West wales rivals Neath. Earlier on in the season Newport recorded and rare win at the Gnoll and so they were determined to make it the first double since the season of 94/95.

It was a scrappy affair with many penalties conceded, and after Newport missed a few it looked like they weren't going to achieve their goal. But one moment of magic separated Newport from Neath. Owen Broad, Newport's nippy little winger saw a chance after receiving the ball from centre Daniel Robinson. With his pace he made the break, chipped over the oncoming defence, caught the ball (as you can see in the image) and raced over for the try.

It was nip and tuck throughout the match, and with very little time to spare Neath had 2 penalty chances to steal victory away from Newport, but it just wasnt to be. Newport sealed the double they were looking for, final score was Newport 13 Neath 12.

In other news Wales pulled the petals off the Flower of Scotland to make next weekend very interesting indeed. Looking forward to that one.
