Communication 1941.

This has recently emerged from the sand dunes. It is the remains of an anchoring device that once helped hold up a wooden telephone pole that connected a WW2 coastal battery with the outside world.
How things have changed in a lifetime! Imagine waging a war without GPS, the internet or electronic computers!
