PLANTING ON MONO MONDAY

It's been beautiful weather-wise around here for the past 10 days....15 days ago we had snow. Anyway, rain is predicted for later in the day and the local farmers are in a hurry to get the planting finished before the rains come. This farmer is planting field corn...the seed drill is behind the tractor and a small set of disks behind the drill covers them over with soil.

Some farmers are still in the process of preparing some of their land to be seeded...this you can see in the Extra photo. This farmer is dragging a spring tooth implement which will break up hardened soil and will follow that with dragging or discing to break up the clumps into smaller pieces. After that planting will follow.
