The Dark Side
Strong gusty winds were the main feature of the day, blowing hard onto shore causing waves to splash on the rocks. The buffeting wind made it difficult to prevent camera shake.
Photographing towards the light put most of the rocks and breaking waves in shadow with only upper surfaces catching highlights. Although leading to a mainly dark image, it served to catch spray against a dark background.
I liked the repeating pattern of waves echoing the rock shapes, which the monochromatic image tends to emphasise.
