‘Baby Coots Born on a Dreich Afternoon’
It was, what we call in Scotland, a dreich day. Wet, cold and grey, and generally miserable!
I hadn’t been outside all day, and late this afternoon braved the weather regardless.
The coots on Inverleith Pond are now a family! With rain pouring down from above, the hen was cleaning up the latest to hatch - I think there are three or four so far (see extra photo) - when they weren’t nestling under her protective wings.
