Tasty Treat!

A lovely sparkly morning after the miserable few days we’ve had over the Bank Holiday weekend. Still cool out of the sun but less wind and great to have the blue skies back.

We walked along Goit Stock with a lovely sparkle on the water in Harden Beck; a Dipper or two; bluebells in the woodland above the beck; Wood anemones a bit cowed by the rain but still there on the beckside; soggy blossom but not too battered and lambs in the field off Leech Lane. Extra. Hardly anyone about just a couple of dog walkers with friendly dogs. Just as it should be.

Stopped by my son’s house to dead head his daffs and inspect his marigold seedlings. We gave him some a few years ago and they come back every year, unlike ours for some reason. We have one seedling at the moment so will be popping back and pinching a couple some time soon.

After a lovely walk the real treat was yet to come. We went to the Yorkshire Treat’s bakery and sat outside on their very nice terrace above the beck in the sun to enjoy a coffee. We were good and stuck to just coffee but it’s very nice to have this addition to our village. When the grass returns to the ‘Village Green Space’ (which they have been building around) the outlook will be even better. More space than you would imagine and the addition of some nice pots of flowers make it very welcoming.
Not bad for the old village toilets!

A nice finish to our walk and one I’m sure we will repeat,
