Flügel seems to be getting browner (cf.); his shoulders are getting more apricot-y, and he has brown emerging from his pewtery cheeks and chin (see first extra). When we got him he was only a few months old and only just fully feathered, yet his plumage pattern was already a variation of mallard breeding plumage (unlike juvenile wildtype mallard drakes, which are brown like ducks), so I suspected he'd just stay that way, but perhaps he is moulting into eclipe after all...
