Pahiatua Plane

Went back to the area I grew up in today to take part (again) in the annual bike race. Perfect conditions and the bunch I got in with worked very well together. Average speed for the 110km was 37kph which is probably my best "long ride" effort. My mate Dave & I got an identical time - 2.53.10.

I lived in Woodville, 15km away from this town. This plane slide is the first thing you see of Pahiatua when you're driving in. We must have driven Mum & Dad batty, craning our heads as far right as we could so we could scream "First one to see the aeroplane slide!!" each and every time we went there. I was alone in the car today, and still did it.....
