Elm seeds
There's a common misconception that elm has been lost from the English countryside - certainly not true in Cambridgeshire. Today Alex and I were out surveying again west of Cambridge, where many of the hedges are dominated by elm - probably several different species though it's too early to be sure. Most of the elm is low-growing but occasionally hedges have been allowed to grow out and here the elm trees are full of bunches of these colourful seeds.
