A new beginning?
After 5 days of an emotional roller coaster following our general elections in Kenya, the announcement that Kenyatta would be our next president was made yesterday. I feel that most of us are just happy it's over and we've not seen any 'mass action' regardless of who is president.
This morning I thought of Kenyatta's political rival, Odinga and how he must feel to once again lose an election, rightly or wrongly. Tomorrow he has vowed to go to court to contest the results and he intends to keep it peaceful. I remember that 12 years ago when he was Minister of Roads he started a controversial process of demolishing private properties built on public road reserve.
There is one such house not to far from where I live. Demolished all those years ago. I decided to take a walk and went inside. Deserted and very eerie it felt strange walking around and wondering about who lived here and all those crushed memories they must have. The view from a bedroom of a beautiful palm tree
And all for nothing. No road has been built after all these years.
Will anything be different under a new government?
