Cockthorpe Common
H showed me a new walk today, starting at Stiffkey Marshes, where I photographed one of the pretty Brent Geese (see extra), these gentle geese will be leaving our shores later this month to return to Iceland/Greenland to breed.
It was a delightful walk starting at the edge of the marshes heading towards Morston, then turning off to follow the crystal-clear River Stiffkey along to Cockthorpe Common. Cockthorpe Common SSSI is a beautiful area of chalk grassland in a dry valley including a fine chalk pit. This pretty valley forms part of a pilgrimage route for those starting at Cley and making their way to Walsingham.
Just to make the walk even better we enjoyed sunshine for most of the circular route.
