Purple toothwort
Otherwise known as Lathraea clandestina.
My friend and blip buddy R4T had found out from 'her' friend and blipper Opal that this most unusual flower was growing alongside the river on the Rotherlands Local Nature Reserve, so we went to find it this afternoon.
Apparently it is a parasite that has no photosynthetic parts but uses the roots of trees/plants to feed on.
We also came across these two friendly girls having a paddle in the river, Rother too. (see extras)
