Zen Monks' Synchronised Facepalming
I couldn't really tap either of these guys on the shoulder and ask them what they were doing.
Thankfully they explained to me once their faces were unobstructed and available again that they were doing some Wim Hof breathing and concentration exercises, as a preamble to their imminent immersion in cold water.
I nodded along, as uncommittedly as I possibly could.
It's doing the trick for them, so I am all for that. Each to their own. I like to see people happy and enjoying themselves and having a thoroughly positive experience.
5 minutes later, a gang of six very energetic guys from Finglas descended on the Vico swimming place, stripped to their designer shorts in less 45 seconds and jumped in the water, or dared each other to jump in the water, or threatened to push each other in the water, and all ended up in the water laughing and shouting and slagging each other. One of them was shouting "I am Foinding Nemo! I am Foinding Nemo!" while swimming frantically in a circle while pretend-drowning.

All in all, a good lunchtime break at the Vico.
The rest of the day was spent remembering JP. In every family, there is a good uncle and a few dodgy ones. He was the good one. The past week has been punctuated by sudden waves of sadness. He will be missed.
