SILLY SATURDAY SCRABBLE
Hello Lovely Friends,
When you get up and it is hammering down with rain, you have to think of something alternative to do, so we all got together and had a little chat about playing some games. Tiny wanted to play Hide and Seek, but she always finds the best places and we never seem to find her, so the game goes on and on, so we decided that wasn’t a good idea.
Then Hoggy suggested Tiddlywinks, but we thought that was rather an old-fashioned game and in any event, some of us aren’t that good at “tiddling our winks”, especially as Hoggy had said it was best played on the floor and as an older bear, I can’t get down on the floor as well as I used to.
Snowy thought we should go out in the garden to play anyway, but funnily enough, that suggestion went down like a lead balloon, or should I say, like a broken umbrella given that it was still raining hard.
Penny Penguin said it might be good to play something that involved brainwork, which I thought was a great idea because I might not be that mobile, but my brain still works, so then we had to choose between Scrabble, Upwords, which is a bit like Scrabble, Yahtzee, Snakes and Ladders or Chess.
We decided to decide by a show of hands, and I’m glad to say that Scrabble won, although it would mean that one of us had to be the umpire, but Snowy said that was fine and that Scrabble wasn’t one of his favourite games anyway.
So off we went, up into Mr. HCB’s Puzzle Room - we set up the game on his green cloth and off we went. You will see that we had all sorts of words that mentioned the weather, such as dismal, dank, cold, wet, miz, which we thought wasn’t a proper word, but our trusty umpire looked it up and it is an “allowable Scrabble word” so that was good.
So here we are Blipping on Silly Saturday with Mrs. HCB - Hurray for her and for all of us and of course, for all of you reading this. If you don’t know what to do on a wet Saturday, why not find your Scrabble game or any other game that you enjoy? It’s certainly not the right day to be doing housework - at least that’s what Mrs. HCB said. We hope that seeing us all playing Scrabble would make Admirer smile, because after all, we do these Silly Saturday blips in her memory.
With love to you all, from
JH Ted, Snowy, the umpire, Hoggy, Tiny and Penny Penguin xxxxx
