Roman Silchester.

This afternoon we went for a walk around Silchester. It's ages since we had been there and I found it fascinating to see it again. Whilst it's incredible that so much of the city walls have survived, it’s  also quite sad to think of such an important place just being abandoned after several hundred years. Over the years many excavations have taken place and lots has been learnt about how these people lived their lives.
