Happy Liberation Day

On 9th May 1945 at 7:15am Brigadier Snow for the Allies and Major General Heine on behalf of the Commander of the Nazi Occupation Forces signed the ceasefire on the quarterdeck HMS Bulldog moored off Guernsey just outside the harbour of St Peter Port.

The islands were occupied from June 1940 to May 1945. The islanders were starving by the time Occupation came to an end.
