Eating out

We weren’t going to go inside anywhere for a bite whilst up in Fort William this weekend but as it was raining this morning & this place looked almost empty we went inside.

Very strange experience. Eating in but detached from the staff and the other customers.

A Self guided user experience.
Walked in. What now?
Seems you can freely walk around to choose your own table - we chose one far from everyone, close to the door, with views
Masks off at the table
Perspex on both sides create a spacious 4 seater sized cocoon - no one in the adjacent tables.
The sign pictured on the table provides a code so we Download the app, look at the menu online, choose two hot breakfasts.
The app confirms the positive status of the transaction.
Another sign in our booth tells us to Check in with track and trace.
I hold my phone camera to the sign & the whole process is slick & quick
10 mins or so and a masked waitress arrives with our food, eyes smiling.
I feel guilty not wearing a mask when she comes close to put the food down. Is the new etiquette to hold your breath? She’s young & seems comfortable.
Ketchup means a return trip for her. Maybe we should bring our own next time.
Breakfast eaten
The rain batters down outside but we are cosy inside. But not relaxed exactly. We are concentrating on abiding by new rules & the detached transactions.
The less human contact the better and that does feel weird.
We stack our plates & leave
No-one says bye
