Successful shakedown

We started my brothers Alfa Giulia for the first time in almost a year as he rebuilt the complete engine, including new pistons, cilinder liners, conrods and bearings. Exciting.

First tested for proper oil pressure with the spark plugs still out, then tested for fuel and coolant leaks with me in the car (see extra) so I could cut the engine at once if required, all was fine.

Within half an hour it moved under its own power again (see extra) en route to our local friendly garagist so we could measure the exhaust gases and properly adjust the carburetors, it was quite lean when we first measured it.

All in all a big succes!
