Old Recipe

I was browsing an old (early C20) cookery book, which was published by subscription of 1shilling to 'help the funds of the women's Patriotic Guild (a branch of Queen Mary's Needlework Guild)'...

Many of the recipes are of a frugal nature suitable for wartime limitations, so I was surprised by the quantities for this Christmas Cake, approximately 10 times the quantities of my own, generously sized, recipe.
