Loving some birds
We finished up the big move for my son Brett yesterday. Starting at 11am and I finished up at about 6 with the cleaning up. I went over to the new house to drop off the key I had and sat with my son for a few minutes. He looked at me and said " Mom, i may not be able to get up from this chair and I will never move house again!" He is a computer person and by his own words is a wimp! He does not manual labor but I think this experience has shown him at 41 he really needs to start thinking about getting his old body in shape. When I talked to him today he said he fell asleep at 10:30 and slept until 10am this morning. He also said his new location is so quiet and dark as he is not on a through street like he was before. Tomorrow he closes the deal on the old home and begins a new stage of his life.
Today Jerry and I both were couch potatoes. I did cook some lunch, watered my plants outside but mostly sat in my chair watching the birds at the feeders while reading a book. The birds were almost posing for me. The grosbeaks were together, I saw the red belly on the woodpecker and also what I think is a catbird. The mockingbird has started to come to the feeder and the suet so I think it may have some babies somewhere. I love seeing two species of birds on the feeders enjoying the food together. Of course, this does not always happen!
A few days ago I saw an article on having a yard become a certified wildlife habitat and printed out the check list. I think our yard will qualify since we have so many of the items on the checklist in place. I need to do more research on it for some of the things but it would be nice to know that I am doing all I can for the wildlife in our area.
Have a good week Blippers!
