Old Master #1

For some time I've had the idea to recreate an old master style still life.

Yesterday I went to my favorite second hand shop here in Rotterdam. The Netherlands does not have the culture of charity shops which exists in England so this is one of only two or three such shops that I know here in the Netherlands.

This is a big warehouse type shop which when we first found it had a lot of architectural salvage such as stained glass windows. Yesterday it was more a smelly collection of old clothes and junk. But they did have the old master style pewter jug and an old pewter plate for just 10 Euros.

I was planning to photograph the jug and the plate together with a nice yellow lemon on the plate, unfortunately the lemon met a culinary fate before I got to set up the photo so here is my first old master with apples and wine glass.
