Beech woodland

There is a small area of beech woodland just along the road from us and I stopped to photograph it today. The thick, smooth grey trunks of beech trees always make me think of elephants' legs but it is the fresh spring leaves that I really love. They are so delicate yet such a vibrant green. There is nothing quite like them.
