Separating Companions

For the last six months the cyclamen leaves and the male fern have been looking charming together, but now the fern is dying down for winter and flowers are opening on the cyclamen, a sign that it’s time to bring it indoors. While the cyclamen comes into the livingroom a lot of other potted flowers were moved into the greenhouse. Tonight there is to be a change in the weather.

We have been enjoying a run of summery days and nights. They are saying we’ve had record highs for May, and now we’re about to have record lows for May. I’m not looking forward to that. However, if we get rain I’ll be happy. Today I dug a vegetable plot and found the soil was dry and dusty right down the length of the shovel.
