Shortsighted..

..can that be a problem in the insect world?
As far as we know, not all species of insects have the same sight, scientists estimate that some can see only the distance of few cm, wheras others, as the butterfly, can see a fee meters distance. But do some butterflies have worse eysight than others? That might actually explain why it is possible to approach some examples with the macrolense without disturbing them, whereas others escape as soon as you come within 2-3 meters! And maybe the bug on the picture mistook the hairy leaf for something else?
